USA and Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Tim Howard has been diagnosed with a fracture of the right adductor longus, located in the upper groin, and will miss four months.

The 37-year-old is set to undergo surgery on Thursday in Los Angeles.
Howard suffered the injury while taking a goal kick in the USA's 2-1 defeat to Mexico in a World Cup qualifier Friday.
With the Rapids set to face the Seattle Sounders in the Western Conference final starting next week, Howard will miss the remainder of the postseason.
