Tigers hope Martinez’s return will help against Royals (Jun 28, 2017)

DETROIT — The Detroit Tigers are desperate for any boost they can get. They hope the return of Victor Martinez can provide one.

The designated hitter is expected to be activated from the 10-day disabled list on Wednesday and rejoin the lineup. The Tigers, who face the Kansas City Royals in the second game of a three-game series, endured an eight-game losing streak shortly after Martinez was sidelined with an irregular heartbeat.

Detroit has won its past two games but is still 5-13 over the past 18 games.

Martinez is just glad that he didn’t have a more serious problem.
