NEW YORK — They didn’t throw a parade for Alex Rodriguez in the Bronx on Friday night, but it rained on his ceremony, that’s for sure.
After a hot summer afternoon, a thunderstorm was expected, and at 6:50 p.m. the tarp was put on the field at Yankee Stadium, with an announcement made that the farewell ceremony for Rodriguez, playing his last game for New York, would start at 6:55.

A video tribute opened the festivities, and A-Rod was joined on the field by family members and good friend Mariano Rivera, to be presented with a few gifts.
