This is what it takes for a defensive coordinator to be fired after just one week

After just one week of action, we have our first defensive coordinator firing in college football.

Louisiana-Lafayette coach Mark Hudspeth announced Sunday that Melvin Smith, a former SEC assistant and Hudspeth's former coach at Delta State, has been relieved of his duties.

"We appreciate everything that Melvin has done for us since coming here, and we wish he and his family nothing but the best in the future," Hudspeth said in a statement. "Making a change is never easy, but we feel this was the necessary thing to do for the success of our program."

Boise State is a good Mountain West team with College Football Playoff crashing plans, but the Ragin' Cajuns' defensive performance in the 45-10 home loss on Saturday showed no improvement following the decision to switch scheme's during the offseason.
