The president who owned a minor league baseball team

Imagine if Bill Clinton owned the Clinton LumberKings, if Abe Lincoln owned the Lincoln Saltdogs or if musicians played "Hail to the Syracuse Chiefs."

Warren Harding was the 29th president, from 1921 to his death in 1923, and he had a baseball connection.

"Harding was the first President to have owned a stake in a professional baseball club, the Marion Diggers of the Class D Ohio State League," wrote John Thorn , MLB's official historian.

Harding grew up playing baseball in Marion, Ohio in the 1800s.
