In late April, BetMGM took a couple of large and unexpected bets. Someone had ultimate faith in the Atlanta Hawks when nobody else did.
The bets were $10,000 on the Hawks at +5000 odds to win the Eastern Conference, which would win $500,000. The second bet was $10,000 on Atlanta to win the NBA Finals at +15000 odds. That win would would be worth $1.5 million. An Atlanta championship would be a $2 million win for that bettor.
It doesn't seem so crazy anymore.
The Hawks easily moved past the New York Knicks in the first round and dominated most of Game 1 against the top-seeded Philadelphia 76ers.
