Tiger Woods’ return to professional golf on Thursday went about as well as you could reasonably expect.
Woods’ first competitive round in over 500 days ended in red figures with a clutch par save on No. 18. Woods enters the second round of The Masters on Friday at 1-under and inside the top 10. He’s four shots off the lead — the same first-round deficit he faced when he won his fifth green jacket in 2019.
Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves just yet. Betting on a sixth green jacket in 2022 is still a long shot.
