The 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike Myers Stadium were delayed Thursday after lightning was seen in the area. The relays were in the middle of the men's hammer throw before the weather interrupted the event.
NCAA rules state that there must be 30 minutes of lightning-free weather before action can resume on the field, with each lightning strike resetting the clock. There are still 25 events scheduled for Thursday that have not begun.
The Texas Relays see the nation's best college track and field athletes convene in Austin, in addition to a large contingent of the state's top high school stars, who compete Friday and Saturday.
