Texas A&M inks Billy Kennedy to new 5-year deal

The success of Texas A&M basketball this season has paid off for Billy Kennedy. The head coach has signed a new five-year deal, the program announced Saturday, just before the top-seeded Aggies (25-7) played LSU in the second round of the SEC Tournament.

"This new contract and commitment is well-deserved and well-earned by Billy, who is a great ambassador for Texas A&M and who embodies our values," Texas A&M athletic director Scott Woodward said in a release. "He has led our team to Texas A&M's first conference championship in 30 years, with an NCAA Tournament invitation likely to come on Sunday.
