Texans make DB Jalen Pitre highest-paid nickel on new three-year extension

Jalen Pitre isn't leaving Houston anytime soon.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Texans and the do-it-all defensive back have agreed to terms on a three-year extension worth up to $39 million. With a guarantee of $29.16 million, Pitre, who last season was the team's nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, is now the NFL’s highest-paid nickel defender.

The Texans continue to back their homegrown talent entering contract seasons. Last year, they agreed to terms with Pro Bowl wide receiver Nico Collins on a three-year deal worth $72.
