Bill O'Brien didn't care about laser pointers. But the Houston Texans coach was pretty fired up about the officiating during Monday's 27-20 loss to the Oakland Raiders at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
Three plays in particular upset O'Brien, including a pair of questionable spots midway through the fourth quarter. On a third-and-2 at the Raiders 16-yard line, Texans running back Lamar Miller ran up the middle and appeared to pick up the necessary yardage for a first down. But he was ruled inches shy of a first down following a measurement.
O'Brien chose not to challenge the spot and did not opt for a 32-yard field goal try, but went for it on fourth down with a handoff to Akeem Hunt, who appeared to dive forward for a first down.
