Sometimes, football really is the beautiful game. Dig a little deeper than the eye-watering amounts of money and the off-field politics that surrounds the sport and you find a platform which brings people together.
And a heartwarming example of that is the story of Bradley Lowery, a five-year-old Sunderland fan with terminal cancer, who received upwards of 28,000 Christmas cards following an appeal by football fans.
Bradley, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2013, led his beloved Black Cats out ahead of their match against Chelsea on Wednesday night and scored against Blues goalkeeper Asmir Begovic before kick off.
