The 10 players suspended from Minnesota's Holiday Bowl will not face charges in connection with an alleged sexual assault from September, Hennepin County attorney Mike Freeman announced on Friday.
The players were accused of being involved in an alleged sexual assault near campus. Because of the pending investigation, they were not allowed to play in the bowl, sparking their teammates to temporarily boycott the game.
The woman who claimed she was assaulted said she believed she had sex with 10-20 members of the team.
Freeman — who originally refused to charge the players in November due to lack of evidence — said multiple people within his office who reviewed Minnesota's Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action (EOAA) report did not find anything new or substantial material to warrant pressing charges.
