Tanaka Pitches 3 Innings in Rehab Start

Masahiro Tanaka made his first rehabilitation start with Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday night, throwing 41 pitches over three shutout innings against the Durham Bulls.

It was Tanaka’s first game action since he was placed on the disabled list on April 29 with right wrist tendinitis and a slight strain in his forearm.

Tanaka allowed two hits and struck out two, throwing 25 strikes over all. He mostly threw between 89 and 91 miles per hour, peaking at 92 on the stadium’s radar gun.

“I felt pretty good out there,” Tanaka told MLB.com. “I was able to use all of my pitches, and I felt good.
