StaTuesday: The rarity of Twins 6-homer games

On May 2, the Minnesota Twins did something most hometown fans have never seen before.

Against Oakland at Target Field, the Twins clubbed six home runs in a 9-1 win. Since Target Field opened, the most home runs the Twins had hit in a home game was four, something they’ve done 10 times.

The first time Minnesota accomplished the feat was July 1, 2012, when Trevor Plouffe hit two and Josh Willingham and Drew Butera had one. The Twins hit four home runs in back-to-back games at Target Field on Sept. 3-4, 2016, which included the only loss when Minnesota hit four homers in a game at home.
