St. Louis shines as host of NHL's 2017 Winter Classic

More than 46,000 fans packed Busch Stadium in downtown St. Louis on Monday for a regular-season hockey game. A smattering of rain, dense fog and the threat of a wash-out didn't scare away a fanbase starved for a Stanley Cup, yet eager to host and witness the 2017 NHL Winter Classic.

Roughly 48 hours before that, more than 40,000 fans packed Busch Stadium for an alumni game between retired Blues and the Blackhawks players.

The Blues roster was a who's-who of NHL greats: Brett Hull, Wayne Gretzky, Al MacInnis, Peter Stastny, Bernie Federko, Adam Oates, Martin Brodeur, Keith Tkachuk and Pierre Turgeon just to name a few.
