San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard is expected to miss the entire preseason as he continues to rehab his right quadriceps, the team announced Saturday.

Leonard is undergoing a rehabilitation program for right quadriceps tendinopathy. The Spurs said a timeline for his return would be determined at a later date.

A two-time winner of the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year award, Leonard took on added responsibilities last season on offense and averaged career highs in points (25.5) and assists (3.5), while averaging 1.8 steals.

Leonard, dubbed the "best two-way player in the game right now" by Michael Jordan, has finished in the top three of MVP voting in each of the past two seasons, and has been a first-team All-NBA selection in both of those seasons as well.
