Steve Spurrier officially announced his resignation as the Head Ball Coach at South Carolina on Tuesday afternoon. After meeting with the team on Monday night to let them know his decision, Spurrier and South Carolina held a press conference to make it official on Tuesday.
Athletic director Ray Tanner and South Carolina president Harris Pastides spoke first, praising Spurrier's record with the Gamecocks, noting how he was the winningest coach at South Carolina (86-49) and elevated the program to new heights.
"He gave us our swagger, our pride and our sandstorm enthusiasm," said Pastides. "That will be Coach Spurrier's legacy for his lifetime.
