Rain prevented NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers fro getting any practice laps on Friday, but in a way that worked out fine for young drivers trying to break into the field for Saturday night's All-Star Race.
Three drivers will become All-Stars through the Sprint Showdown, which was postponed to 11 a.m. ET Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Winners of each of the three segments — two of 20 laps and one of 10 — will each advance to Saturday night's main event. Rookies Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney, as well as Austin Dillon, find themselves starting at the front of the field after rain canceled qualifying and the field was set based on the rulebook.
