That is by design. NASCAR, Sprint and Charlotte Motor Speedway are always looking for a new twist to spice up the annual all-star race. This year's format might be the wackiest ever.
In the past, the race has featured three or four short segments, followed by a 10-lap dash for the $1 million prize, with all sorts of other rules thrown into the mix.
