The death of actor Chadwick Boseman shocked the world on Friday night, and that included the sports world.
Through some of the most iconic and empowering roles ever held by a Black actor, few in the entertainment world held as much meaning as Boseman did to athletes and teams. In a career that ended far too early, Boseman played Jackie Robinson in “42,” King T’Challa in “Black Panther,” Thurgood Marshall in “Marshall” and James Brown in “Get on Up.”
Some of those roles were even performed after Boseman received the colon cancer diagnosis in 2016 that eventually led to his death.
