Sports Briefing | Track and Field: Amputee Seeking Spot in Olympics Wins

The Paralympic champion Markus Rehm leapt 26.6 feet to win the long jump at the Glasgow Grand Prix in Scotland.

A single-leg amputee, Rehm was making his first appearance at an International Association of Athletics Federations indoor event. Rehm, a German, is trying to prove to the I.A.A.F., the world governing body, that his carbon-fiber prosthesis does not give him an advantage over runners who do not use prostheses so he can compete in both the Olympic and the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
