Adam Johnson, a former player on England’s international team, was sentenced to six years in prison for child sex offenses in Bradford, England.
A former Premier League player for Manchester City and Sunderland, Johnson, 28, pleaded guilty to one charge of sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl and another of “grooming” — building an emotional connection with a child to gain trust with sexual motives.
He had been found guilty of one other charge of sexual activity with the girl earlier this month. Sunderland released Johnson in February.
