Sports Briefing | Hockey: Devils Re-Sign Seth Helgeson

The Devils re-signed defenseman Seth Helgeson to a two-year contract.

General Manager Ray Shero said that Helgeson had received a two-way deal for this season and a one-way contract for 2016-17.

Helgeson, 24, will receive $575,000 if he plays in the N.H.L. next season and $75,000 in the minor leagues. His contract for the following season is $600,000.

Helgeson is entering his third year with the Devils after playing at the University of Minnesota. He split last season between Albany and the Devils, playing 49 games in the American Hockey League and 22 in the N.
