Sports Briefing | Hockey: Devils’ Bryce Salvador Retires After 14 Seasons

Devils defenseman Bryce Salvador, the team’s captain, retired after nearly 800 games in 14 N.H.L. seasons. Salvador missed all but 15 games last season with a back injury. He had 24 goals and 86 assists in 786 games split between the Devils and the St. Louis Blues. Salvador said he was thankful that his two sons were able to see him play after he thought his career was over when he missed the 2010-11 season because of injury.
