The governing body of athletics hit back at two scientists whose findings led to allegations of widespread doping in the sport, saying their assertions were “seriously incorrect.”
The International Association of Athletics Federations said that the Australian antidoping scientists Michael Ashenden and Robin Parisotto were wrong to claim that the governing body did not act on suspicious blood profiles from doping tests. The assertion came after reports by the German broadcaster ARD and The Sunday Times, in London, that blood doping was rampant in athletics, citing test results that were leaked by a whistle-blower and then analyzed by Parisotto and Ashenden.
