Croix Bethune's rookie season is over, one assist short of making NWSL history.

The Washington Spirit announced Wednesday that the 23-year-old midfielder will miss the rest of the season due to a meniscus injury and has been placed on the season-ending injury (SEI) list. While the team said only that the injury was sustained "away from training last week," Jason Anderson of Pro Soccer Wire reports that Bethune hurt her knee while throwing out the first pitch at a Washington Nationals game last week.
