A South Carolina university is aiming to land for its state the 2017 NCAA Tournament games pulled from North Carolina over its controversial HB2 law.
Furman athletic director Mike Buddie said on ESPN's "Capital Games" podcast that his school and the Southern Conference will submit a bid Friday for the first- and second-round games that were to be played in Greensboro, N.C., with the hope of putting the games in Greenville, S.C., in March.
Only because South Carolina removed the Confederate flag from its state capitol grounds in 2015 will Buddie be able to bid for a neutral-site NCAA championship-related event.
