MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- The Clemson Tigers have sent three players home for failed drug tests, a source confirmed to ESPN.com's Mark Schlabach.
Receiver Deon Cain, kicker Ammon Lakip and tight end Jay Jay McCullough will not play in the College Football Semifinal at the Capital One Orange Bowl against Oklahoma on Thursday. ESPN Upstate and The Clemson Insider reported the news first.
All three are backups, but Cain has been an integral part of the pass game, ranking second on the team with 582 yards receiving on 34 receptions -- emerging as the biggest deep threat the Tigers had this season.
