Softball pitcher Monica Abbott made history Thursday, becoming the first woman in the history of United States women's team sports to sign a contract expected to reach $1 million.
The $1 million will be spread over a six-year contract that has a base pay of $20,000, according to CNNMoney Sport. Abbott will get the rest in bonuses based on attendance levels (games must have over 100 fans in attendance). Abbott doesn't have to pitch to get the bonus, which is capped at $180,000 a year.
