Mets right-hander Matt Harvey, placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday because of shoulder discomfort, was scheduled to see vascular specialist Dr. Robert Thompson on Thursday in St. Louis for more tests and analysis.
The Mets aren’t providing further information on Harvey’s prognosis, pending the exam, but the Mets fear he is dealing with thoracic outlet syndrome, the New York Daily News reported, citing unidentified sources.

The syndrome leads to pressure on blood vessels and nerves in the shoulder, leading to the discomfort Harvey has felt — and likely has contributed to his ineffectiveness and inconsistency this season.
