RIO DE JANEIRO — The bio sheet for Allyson Felix in the Olympics database features a small note, under the ‘Injuries’ heading: “A minor ankle injury forced her to miss the 2016 Diamond League meeting in Doha.”

Felix tore ligaments in her right ankle in April, when she came down off of a pull-up bar and accidentally landed on a medicine ball. There was nothing minor about it — it was, in her words, “a scary moment.
