GREEN BAY — When it comes to what the American flag represents, two of the NFL’s most prominent quarterbacks don’t see eye-to-eye.
In explaining his refusal to stand for the national anthem before San Francisco 49ers games, Colin Kaepernick told NFL Media that he would not “show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”
Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers doesn’t look at the stars and stripes in the same way.
“To me, the flag represents the greatest ideals of the United States of America, not the worst,” Rodgers told Sporting News in an exclusive interview Monday at his Lambeau Field locker.
