Six Notre Dame players were arrested in two separate incidents early Saturday morning with one being cited for police battery and five for marijuana- and gun-related charges.
Details are scarce at this time, but cornerback Devin Butler was arrested near 1 a.m. at the popular Linebacker Lounge bar near campus on battery of law enforcement and resisting arrest, according to The Observer student newspaper, which first reported these incidents. The battery charge is a felony in Indiana.
Notre Dame spokesman Paul Browne said in a statement that "any student arrested on a felony charge also faces dismissal from the university" but the school will "determine if additional actions should apply to any and all students charged.
