Sheldon Richardson was suspended by the NFL for the first game of the 2016 season, the Jets announced Thursday.
The defensive lineman pleaded guilty to resisting arrest in January, a violation of the NFL's personal conduct policy. He will have to miss the Jets' season opener against the Bengals on Sept. 11, but he will be allowed to participate in all preseason practices and games.

Richardson was arrested last summer for leading police on a car chase with a 12-year-old in his vehicle. He wasn't charged with child endangerment, nor was he hit with any drug charges, though police officers said they could smell marijuana in the car.
