CONCORD, N.C. — It's never good when the big video screen at your sporting event warns fans to clear the grandstands.
That's what happened between 6-7 p.m. at Charlotte Motor Speedway as a severe thunder storm threatened the Sprint All-Star Racing. Light rain was reported in the garage around just after 7, with dark clouds hovering over Turn 3. Lightening was spotted in the area at 7:11 p.m.
Qualifying for the Sprint All-Star Race was scheduled for 7:15, with the main event schedule to start just after 9 p.m.
Heavy rain could wash out qualifying and threaten the start of the all-star race.
