Serena Williams fined $10K for unsportsmanlike conduct at Wimbledon

Serena Williams was fined $10,000 at Wimbledon on Saturday for unsportsmanlike conduct.

The sanction stems from Williams's second-round victory over Christina McHale on Friday when she repeatedly smashed her racquet before tossing it into the stands.

Williams acknowledged she would likely lose money and joked about breaking more equipment at future tournaments.

"I've cracked a number of rackets throughout my career. I've gotten fined a number of times for cracking rackets. In fact, I look at it like I didn't crack one at the French Open or Rome, so I was doing really good," Williams told media members after the match.
