Senators' Craig Anderson leaves team to be with wife after cancer diagnosis

Ottawa Senators goaltender Craig Anderson has left the team to be with his wife after her recent cancer diagnosis, and it's unclear when he'll return.

After Anderson left the team last week to return home to Florida, the Senators revealed Nicholle Anderson's illness last weekend. At the urging of his wife, the veteran netminder rejoined the team following an injury to his backup Andrew Hammond and led the Senators to a 2-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday.

That courageous performance coupled with a shutout of the Vancouver Canucks the day before his trip to Florida earned Anderson NHL first star of the week honors.
