Pushing for tax increases amid a state budget crisis, Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards alluded to the nuclear option in a televised address Thursday: LSU's 2016 football season is in danger.
Edwards cited a projected $940 million budget shortfall by the end of June, meaning campuses could run out of money and be forced to shut down in April.

"Student-athletes across the state … will be ineligible to play next semester," Edwards said (via NOLA.com). "That means you can say farewell to college football next fall.
