Saudi Arabia’s PIF actually pitched Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods captaining LIV Golf teams in new partnership

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy each owning and playing for a LIV Golf team sounds like a wild, far-fetched idea.

That, however, is apparently the pitch brought to the PGA Tour board members amid negotiations for the attempted partnership between LIV Golf, the PGA Tour and DP World Tour.

According to Golf.com, PCP Capital Partners — a private equity firm that is involved in deals with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund — sent PGA Tour board members Jimmy Dunne and Ed Herlihy a presentation titled “The Best of Both Worlds.” That presentation had several proposals and ideas of what a long-term partnership between the leagues could look like.
