Sam Cassell in running for Rockets' coaching job; J.B. Bickerstaff reportedly pulls out

Add the Rockets to the list of NBA teams that will have a new head coach when the 2016-17 season begins.

Interim coach J.B. Bickerstaff has informed the team he will take himself out of the running to become the full-time coach, The Vertical reported Wednesday.

The Rockets have met with Clippers assistant and former Rockets guard Sam Cassell about the opening, as well as Rockets assistant Chris Finch, according to the report. It also said former Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy is thought to be in the running for the job.
