NEW ORLEANS — Throughout this season, the Giants have had one of the worst pass defenses in the N.F.L. For a majority of their games, the Giants got away with this weakness because most of their early season opponents started backup quarterbacks, or lightly regarded ones.
Facing Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, the Giants were matched against a skilled, cunning and meticulous quarterback, the N.F.L. equivalent of a marksman: If given time and an open field of sight, Brees will aim and not miss his target.
The result was a one-sided demolition of the Giants’ defense.
