LONDON (AP) Proteas coach Russell Domingo has returned to South Africa from the team’s tour of England to be by the side of his mother, who is on life support following a car accident.
Team officials said the 42-year-old Domingo flew back on Sunday, on the fourth day of the first cricket test against England, because his mother’s condition has deteriorated. The accident took place last month.
It was not known how long he will be away from the squad. The second test starts Friday at Trent Bridge.
South Africa lost the first test by 211 runs at Lord’s.
