Ryan Newman is staying put. Richard Childress Racing announced on Monday that it has a multi-year agreement to keep the driver in the No. 31 Chevrolet.
Newman joined the organization beginning with the 2014 season. He made the field for the Chase for the Sprint Cup in 2014 and 2015. He was a career-best second in the championship race in 2014.
"Ryan's consistency on the track has been a benefit to our organization and this extension solidifies the future of our racing program," RCR CEO and chairman Richard Childress said in a statement. "Ryan proved the first year he was here that we could contend for championships and with this continuation, I believe we can fulfill our commitment to winning races and a championship.
