U.S. swimmers Ryan Lochte and Jimmy Feigen have been indicted for false reporting of a crime, Brazilian news outlet Globo reports.
Brazilian authorities confirmed the report to ABC’s Michael Del Moro.
Lochte, Feigen and two other swimmers initially claimed to have been robbed early Sunday morning in Brazil. After police found no evidence to support their allegations, the swimmers’ story began to unravel, and two of them reportedly admitted to fabricating the robbery.
Lochte and the swimmers instead allegedly vandalized a gas station on Sunday, with the station’s owner telling Globo the swimmers urinated on the walls.
