The Mike Rice era at Rutgers just keeps on giving — this time $300,000 to a former Scarlet Knights player.
That's what the university paid to settle a lawsuit with Derrick Randall, the legal blog NJ Civil Settlements reported.
Randall, a 6-9, 240-pound reserve forward who played two seasons at Rutgers, sued the school and Rice in 2013, eight months after the university fired its head coach for mistreating his players.

In his suit, Randall, who is described as "learning disabled," alleged that Rice "violently grabbed, kicked, shoved and berated" him and other players, threw basketballs at the players' heads and subjected them to profane language and homophobic slurs.
