Roundup: Minnesota Women Fall, but Star Sets Big Ten Mark

Minnesota guard Rachel Banham scored 52 points to become the Big Ten’s career leading scorer, but Aerial Powers had a career-high 40 points to lead No. 25 Michigan State to a 114-106 home victory on Sunday.

Banham, who shot 14 of 28 from the field — including 9 of 13 from 3-point range — and 15 of 16 from the free-throw line, now has 2,921 points. She passed Kelly Mazzante, who scored 2,919 for Penn State from 2001 to 2004. Carlie Wagner added 20 points for the Golden Gophers (18-9, 10-6).

Minnesota took a 2-point lead early in the third quarter, but the Spartans (20-7, 11-5) responded with a 23-5 run, including 10 points from Powers, to grab an 80-64 advantage.
