Jake Arrieta pitched four-hit ball into the eighth inning on Sunday, and the Chicago Cubs beat the visiting San Francisco Giants, 2-0, for a four-game sweep.
Arrieta also tripled and scored in the second as the Cubs won for the 10th time in 11 games.
It was Chicago’s first four-game sweep of San Francisco since June 1977, and it widened the Cubs’ lead for the second National League wild card spot to three and a half games over the reeling Giants.
After the game, the police evacuated Wrigley Field for about an hour after receiving a threat by telephone.
