Roundup: Angels Lose Ground as Indians Get a Win

Trevor Bauer, starting in place of an ill Danny Salazar, allowed one run in eight innings, and the Cleveland Indians defeated the visiting Los Angeles Angels, 3-1, on Friday night.

Bauer (10-10) won for the second time in nine starts. He replaced Salazar, who was scratched because he had a virus. Bauer allowed five hits and struck out seven.

Kaleb Cowart hit a single in the fifth that drove in the Angels’ only run. Los Angeles entered the night one-half game behind Texas for the second wild-card spot in the A.L.

TWINS 3, ASTROS 0 Eduardo Nunez homered, and Kyle Gibson pitched five and two-thirds scoreless innings to help host Minnesota to a victory over Houston.
