Hall of Famer and ex-Raider Ronnie Lott is tied to a group offering to buy the Coliseum and surrounding land with the hope of keeping the Raiders in Oakland, the East Bay Times reported, citing a letter the investment group’s attorney sent to city and county officials last week.
According to the Times, which obtained the letter dated Sept. 12, it arrived at city hall days before commissioner Roger Goodell expressed optimism about an Oakland stadium deal and pumped the brakes on the NFL team's potential relocation to Las Vegas.
However, the city quickly rejected a subsequent proposal by an NFL executive in charge of stadium construction and franchise retention, unidentified city hall sources told the Times.
